Julia Smith is a Los Angeles, California based artist, designer and writer. In her early professional years, she had a Los Angeles based catering company and a fashion design business. Although no longer running either of these businesses, she can still be persuaded upon to do wedding or special event low -glycemic cakes (see photos on previous page). Later on in her career, she was involved in education, where she incorporated art into teaching. She writes and presents at conferences and events around the world about arts incorporation into teaching and learning, among other things. In the last twenty or so years she has focused  on drawing, painting and design. Many of her paintings and drwaings are intensely architectural and geometric, while the nature - based artworks are soft and colorful. As part of home, kitchen and bathroom remodels, she had incorporated tile mosiac art into interior and exterior designs.
